Description
The MEBS project is a retrospective follow-up study aiming to investigate the relationship between menstrual history and perceptions related to eating and body image during a sports career with 1) injuries, sports career duration, and success during the sports career, 2) body image and attitudes towards eating in adulthood, and 3) fertility as well as body image and relationship with food during or after pregnancy among individuals who were competitive athletes in their adolescence.
The data collection began on May 1, 2022, and ended on July 31, 2022. The data was collected using a questionnaire, which utilized the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire short form (EDE-QS) and the Low Energy Availability in Females Questionnaire (LEAF-Q).
The data includes information from 100 former female endurance athletes and 98 age-, gender-, and municipality-matched controls.
