Integrated Carbon Observation System-European Research Infrastructure Consortium

Description of the granted funding

ICOS RI (Integrated Carbon Observation System Research Infrastructure) is a distributed European research infrastructure, which consists of national measurement stations and European-level coordinating organization. The field station network covers over 130 atmosphere, ecosystem and ocean observation stations over Europe and North Atlantic. The atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide) are measured together with ecosystem carbon and nitrogen cycles and exchange with the atmosphere. ICOS produces long-term, unified, precise and quality controlled GHG time series for needs of research and emission monitoring and mitigation.
