Accessibility statement

This is an accessibility statement for the online service and it's Researcher's Profile Tool. The accessibility requirements for the online service are based on the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019). This accessibility statement was drafted on 5 June 2020.

Accessibility status of the online service

Based on self-assessment, the online service meets WCAG 2.1 AA critical accessibility requirements.

Inaccessible content in the online service

Inaccessible content:

The statistical content in the "Science and Research in figures” section may be problematic for screen readers, because in certain cases the language attribute of the statistics is in English, even if the user has otherwise set the language to Finnish. The English language attribute creates a conflict, in which the screen reader reads the statistics in English. The language attribute error occurs at least in Safari and Mozilla Firefox browsers. However, the language attribute has mainly worked in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers.

WCAG requirement not met

3.1.2 Language of sections (AA)

Reason for non-compliance

Third party content

Background: The statistics will be imported into the portal as iframe content from another online service, which, however, uses technologies that cannot comprehensively configure the language attribute of content offered as an iframe.

Inaccessible content:

The instructions for statistical content in the "Figures on Science and Research" section of the portal that appear when the cursor hovers over them do not fully comply with the accessibility requirements. The cursor cannot be hovered over the dynamic help - the text will instead disappear when the cursor moves outside the target element.

WCAG requirement not met:

1.4.13 Contents when pointing or aligning

Reason for non-compliance:

Third party content

Next steps for improving the accessibility in the online service
