Reducing uncertainties of the climate effect of atmospheric aerosols by applying element methods and inverse mathematics

Description of the granted funding

Väitöskirjaprojektini tavoitteena on kehitellä elementtimenetelmään ja matemaattiseen inversioon perustuva ratkaisija, jolla voidaan approksimoida aerosolien tuntemattomia prosessinopeuksia ja niiden epävarmuuksia olemassa olevasta mittausdatasta. Kyseinen ratkaisija sisällytetään globaaliin ilmakehämalliin, jolloin aerosolien ilmastovaikutuksia voidaan estimoida tarkemmin. The main objective of my research is approximate quantities and confidence intervals of aerosol process rates from previously measured data by developing state of art solver based on finite element methods and inversion mathematics. The solver will be applied to various global climate models to estimate behavior of atmospheric aerosols more accurately than with current models. This gives new insight about the climate effects of the atmospheric aerosols.
