Information Resilience in a Wicked Environment (IRWIN)
Description of the granted funding
The rapid change in the global operating environment, the complexity of decision-making and the role of social media have challenged the operating practices of traditional crisis preparedness and security of supply. In a complex knowledge society the importance of information resilience has increased. Reliable and evidence-based information lays the foundation for the continuity and resilience of societal activities. The research project examines the state of information resilience, the functioning of the Government's decision-making and regulatory systems, and the importance of the collective agency of civil society. The study also analyzes disinformation that spreads through social media and assesses how to combat it. The multidisciplinary project outlines a new kind of participatory and adaptive national preparedness system in which decision-makers, civil society and industry create situational awareness and work together to advance crisis preparedness goals objectives.
