Mathematical analysis of coagulation and condensation phenomena
Description of the granted funding
The main research topic of the project is in large scale properties of dynamical models connected to condensation phenomena. We aim at mathematically controllable simplifications of the physical models, with as explicit error bounds as possible and in the regime of relevance to the applications. A particular goal of the project is to improve the predictive accuracy of coagulation-fragmentation models in the regime relevant to aggregation of aerosols in the atmosphere. A better understanding of such coagulation processes is needed for reduction of the uncertainty in predictions of the effects of climate change.
