Adaptive high-order mortar methods for computational contact mechanics
Description of the granted funding
Contact mechanics is notorious for challenging numerical simulations. There exist several mortaring techniques proposed in the literature for improving the algorithms and making them more robust. However, the practicality of these techniques is hindered by the lack of generality and a missing software implementation. This project will improve the practical applicability of the modern mortaring techniques in the finite element simulation of elastic contact problems.
