The synaptic life cycle regulated by disease mechanisms
Description of the granted funding
Neurological diseases are devastating disorders without effective treatments that increasingly affect the quality of life and burden society. Detailed studies on basic mechanisms of diseases and information relevant for human systems are urgently needed. Despite different etiology and age of onset of diseases, such as neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases, synaptic loss and dysfunction are their shared hallmarks. This project will develop innovative methods to explore synaptic life cycle regulated by disease mechanisms. It will advance our understandings of these disorders which will contribute to identification of new targets and development of therapeutic strategies.
