EARTH. Earthen Architecture Research on the Techno-Social impact of the built Heritage
Description of the granted funding
The aim of the project EARTH is to investigate earthen built heritage to understand the social impact of the built environment on ancient societies in Western Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean during the Late Bronze and Iron Ages (1500-300 BCE). EARTH combines approaches from “hard sciences” such as archaeometry and neuroarchitecture (e.g., geoarchaeology, optically stimulated luminescence) and “soft sciences” such as social archaeology and building archaeology in order to probe, reflect on and interpret the reciprocal impact that the built environment and communities have on each other.
