PET Imaging of Translocator Protein in Head and Neck Cancer

Description of the granted funding

The translocator protein (TSPO) regulatory mechanisms may have a significant role in the response to cancer treatment. Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive imaging method that enables quantitative imaging of physiological processes. By utilizing a new, fluorine-18 labeled TSPO/PET tracer, it is possible to receive clinically important information about the role of TSPO in cancer, which furthermore can be of use for treatment planning and in developing new TSPO targeting drugs.
