Access to justice for marginalized groups of older people in ageing society (AMIS)

Description of the granted funding

The aim of the research project AMIS is to obtain holistic and comprehensive insight into the legal needs, problems and access to justice of marginalized groups of older people in their everyday lives. Concepts of vulnerability, capability, human agency and autonomy will also be analyzed in the context of access to justice. The societal objective is to increase understanding and knowledge of the access to justice of marginalized older people in society and of the factors that impact upon their ability to obtain legal aid and to use remedies. This project has five work packages: WP 1 Abuse of older people, WP 2 Older people with alcohol and drug problems, WP3 Older people with mental health problems, WP 4 Older LGBTQIA+ -people and WP 5 Older immigrants. The research project is a triangulation study using mixed research methods and materials: quantitative and qualitative empirical studies as well as theoretical analysis of the legal system and literature reviews.
