Terahertz Propagation Channels for Satellite Communications

Description of the granted funding

The satellite based solutions for providing internet connections for airplane passengers are becoming commonplace. At the same time, remote area connectivity via satellites is under investigation. In the future, the existing frequency bands will suffer from capacity shortage on serving vast numbers of customers on vast numbers of applications. This project paves road for future THz based satellite communications solutions that will have much more capacity compared to lower frequency systems. This project focuses on channel, link, and system modeling and analysis that will provide in-depth performance and feasibility analysis for the usability of the THz frequencies for extremely high distance communications applications.
