High-Performance Natural-Medium Heat Pump for Communities and Industry

Acronym

Hi-PerHP

Description of the granted funding

We develop technology for the next generation of compressors for heat pumps to allow for their improved performance, reduced environmental footprint, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and enhanced energy system integration. The technology part of the project is led by LUT and will focus on the development of the critical components of a high-speed compressor unit – the motor, impellers, cooling system and bearing system – to produce and move closer to commercialization a high-performance compressor system for high-power high-temperature heat-pump applications working on natural fluids. The commercialization activities are led by Aalto and will focus on building a technology-sharing ecosystem between academia and industry to promote and facilitate commercialization of clean high-efficient heat pump compressors and to support manufacturers and businesses of the heat pump value chain from production to market.
