Flagship of Advanced Mathematics for Sensing, Imaging and Modelling
Description of the granted funding
FAME Flagship brings the power of mathematics and physics to the service of society. Its academic team has a strong background in developing methods of inverse mathematics for medical imaging, industrial process monitoring, non-destructive testing of materials and structures, and interpreting satellite data. Generality of mathematics allows transferring the methods from one application area to another. Industrial partners of FAME, working with healthcare, clean industry, and sustainable environment, will co-create novel solutions for their technologies with the FAME team. Furthermore, their goals will give raise to new scientific questions. Science communication is a focus area of FAME. Researchers are trained to discuss science with general audience and young people, leading to wider appreciation for science and mathematics. FAME will support economic progress in Finland through strong interaction with industry, training of experts, and boosting innovations and start-up companies.
