Mobile Futures: Diversity, Trust and Two-Way Integration

Description of the granted funding

Mobile Futures is an interdisciplinary and action-oriented research project that argues that a more just society is more resilient in the face of the challenges brought by demographic changes. Our research contributes to the creation of a more inclusive society, and in order to do this, we study social and institutional trust as central ingredients of two-way integration. Our research shifts the focus from migrants to the whole society: to the factors, practices, and discourses that prevent integration or promote inclusion and belonging locally and at the communal and national levels. In addition, we are developing collaboration between researchers, decision-makers, practitioners, migrants, and other key stakeholders. Finally, we bring forth a more ethical way to discuss migration in the context of demographic changes - a way where migrants are not treated as a resource but as human beings with a need to belong and participate.
