NSF-RCF: Distributed Multi-Modal Sensing Aided Large-Scale MIMO Communications (DYNAMICS)
Description of the granted funding
Efficient communication networks are vital for advancing the next generation of wireless applications, a priority for countries like the US and Finland. Future networks must deliver higher data rates and support mobile, low-latency applications such as virtual reality and autonomous vehicles. This collaborative project aims to leverage machine learning to design innovative wireless communication networks that fulfill these requirements, ensuring high data rates across extensive areas and enhancing user experience. By integrating sensory data, including GPS and camera images, the project seeks to boost wireless network performance. The initiative is expected to enhance technology transfer to industry in both the US and Finland, with all developed machine learning datasets and algorithms made publicly available. This collaboration between Arizona State University, USA and the University of Oulu, Finland promises significant benefits for both societies and the global community.
