European Plate Observing System

Description of the granted funding

The Finnish node of the European Plate Observing System - EPOS-Finland (EPOS-FI) is an umbrella organization of distributed National Research Infrastructures (NRIs) in Solid Earth Sciences. The development project will establish a national metadata and computational centre – the EPOS-FI hub to promote and enhance the findability of the EPOS-FI geophysical data. We will adopt a one stop shop policy for finding data and storing new data, accessing instrument pools, and attached data and computational services, accessing stations and laboratories. The project will improve the competitiveness of Finnish Earth sciences via new cutting-edge technologies (long range MT, Quantum gravimeter, optical timekeeping, magnetic shielding). The investments will increase precision, sensitivity, accuracy, and traceability, enabling new low threshold observations required in technological applications and innovations in AI applications.
