Distributing Quantum Computations using Defect-Free Graph States

Description of the granted funding

A single quantum computer is often thought of as a distributed system instead of a single computational unit. The units in the distributed system are imperfect and a great challenge in quantum computing is to deal with faults in the units. The main goal of this project is to design algorithmic methods that 1) operate at scale and in real-time to address the effects of imperfections and 2) distribute a computation effectively across a distributed quantum computer. We employ a unified framework provided by the theory of quantum graph states (QGS). There are systematic and efficient translations between quantum circuits and QGS which offers us a clean way to design parallel algorithms that efficiently handle the faults.
