Designer magnetic molecular systems on 2D van der Waals layers (DEMANDS)
Description of the granted funding
This project explores the synthesis and characterization of carbon-based magnetic nanostructures on two-dimensional (2D) materials, aiming to advance quantum computing and spin-based electronics. These magnetic systems hold great promise for enabling energy-efficient, high-performance electronics, but they remain challenging to fabricate and study due to their sensitivity to environmental factors. By developing scalable methods to precisely synthesize these nanostructures and revealing their magnetic behavior, including spin dynamics and quantum coherence, the project aims to support the development of sustainable and low-power information technologies. Conducted at Aalto University, the project will also train young scientists and foster international collaboration in cutting-edge materials science. All results will be openly shared to benefit the broader scientific community and society.
