Integrated Computation, Caching, and Communication for Energy-Aware Immersive Systems (INCOMMS)
Description of the granted funding
Immersive technologies like virtual and augmented reality are changing how we interact with the digital world, offering new possibilities for gaming, training, education, and remote work. However, these technologies require fast, reliable, and energy-efficient wireless networks to deliver smooth, high-quality experiences. This project focuses on improving wireless networks by combining smart data storage (caching), advanced multiantenna communication techniques, and efficient edge computing. By predicting user behavior and understanding what content is most needed, the system can deliver information more effectively, reducing delays and saving energy. The research has applications beyond virtual reality, including smart factories, autonomous vehicles, and robotics. By making better use of existing resources and developing innovative solutions, the project supports the development of sustainable and efficient 6G networks that will benefit a wide range of industries and everyday users.
