Decoding the unique function of Igf1r signalling in the developing mammary gland

Description of the granted funding

One key aspect of organogenesis is the coordination of growth and morphogenesis to ensure the correct size and shape of the organ. This project aims to unravel how the mammary gland gains its growth potential, using mouse mammary gland as a model system, and in vivo and ex vivo tissue models together with molecular and cell biological tools to answer these fundamental questions. Information gained will be important in understanding the causes and developing cures when things go awry such as in congenital diseases or breast cancer, as well as for developing tools for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering purposes.
