Interaction of Color Centers in Diamond: Towards Next-Generation Quantum Sensors
Description of the granted funding
Impurities in a diamond's lattice are like tiny inhabitants living in their own crystal houses. Scientists have learned to communicate with some of them - known as color centers - using light. When approached carefully, these sensitive and talkative color centers can reveal, for example, the temperature around their home or whether magnetic storms are disturbing them. In this project, we aim to discover which color centers are the most sociable, how they interact with each other, what forms of external communication they respond to best, and how to gather the friendliest group together - so that they can tell us as much as possible about their lives and the amazing world they inhabit.
