Composite bichromophores for low energy organic phosphorescence
Description of the granted funding
Light and colours are among the most important fundamental phenomena which impact life and society. Materials for light generation, conversion and transportation play an indispensable role in modern commercialized technologies and have boosted the progress in the fields spanning from general lighting sources (LED lights and displays) to wearable electronics, information storage and encryption, sensing and detection, medical diagnostics and treatment. In this project, carried out at the University of Eastern Finland in collaboration with colleagues from Taiwan and Germany, we will develop new families of light-emitting dyes, operating in the red to near-infrared region, which can be applied for anticounterfeiting, biomaging, phototherapy, photovoltaic and optoelectronic devices to address global problems of energy saving, safety, health and wellbeing.
