Regulation of synaptic plasticity by brain temperature dynamics

Description of the granted funding

Temperature plays a fundamental role in all cellular life, yet the impact of temperature shifts on brain function remain unclear. This project explores how changes in brain temperature influence critical mechanisms of brain function, including those that support learning, memory, and mental health. By investigating the connection between temperature and neurotrophic signaling – a process vital for maintaining and adapting brain connections – this research seeks to unravel how sleep, stress, and antidepressant treatments affect brain health. Using cutting-edge techniques such as brain temperature monitoring, advanced imaging, and molecular analysis methods, the project will reveal insights into the impact of temperature on brain disorders and the effects of drugs that target the brain. The research has the potential to inspire new therapies, improve treatments for brain disorders, and deepen our understanding of the dynamic relationship between temperature and brain function.
