??Regimes of Permission and Posthuman Harm: Corporate Exploitation in Finnish Forests (Corporate Forest) ?
Description of the granted funding
This research explores how forest laws and policies in Finland affect both people and nature. It focuses on how legal systems may unintentionally permit environmental harm while favouring industrial interests. The project examines forest governance in regions such as Kouvola, Inari, Kajaani, and Suomussalmi, using interviews, archival sources, legal documents, and computational text analysis. Based at the University of Turku, the project combines legal, ecological, and social perspectives to better understand how laws shape forest use and to promote more equitable and sustainable futures for forests and all who depend on them. The research team also collaborates with schools, civil society, and artists to share knowledge and imagine alternative legal futures.
