Rethinking Resistance: Ecofeminist Philosophy of Nonviolence
Description of the granted funding
The project belongs to the field of feminist philosophy and offers a new approach to understanding and problematising violence in the age of ecological crisis. It develops an ecofeminist philosophy of nonviolence that extends feminist critique of violence beyond human-centred perspectives. The project examines how ecological destruction transforms the conditions under which violence, nonviolence and resistance are understood and practised. It further investigates how environmental damage is intertwined with structural violence, including colonial, capitalist and gendered oppression. By bringing feminist, ecological and decolonial perspectives into dialogue, the project develops a novel philosophical framework for analysing the relations between ecological devastation, social injustice, violence and resistance. The project also contributes to public debate on these issues. The research integrates conceptual and historical analysis, producing four peer-reviewed articles and a monograph.
