Next Generation Thermal Hydraulic Test Loop

Abbreviation

NextGenTH

Infrastructure description

The Next Generation Thermal Hydraulic Test Loop is a multifunctional facility designed to reproduce a wide range of heat transfer and fluid flow (thermal-hydraulic) phenomena relevant to light water moderated nuclear reactors. The main scientific output of the new facility will be (1) capability to locally discern interpret and model the 2D/3D dynamic structure of two-phase (water-steam) flow under a broad variety of conditions relevant to safety and availability of nuclear power plants and (2) large-scale modelling of system-wide behavior in multiple genometrics representative of various nuclear heat transport systems (modularity: interchangeable components typical to nuclear systems).
