Saint Nicholas Church, Inkoo

Description

Paintings of the St Nicholas Church (built in several stages between 1430–1520) in Inkoo (Uusimaa) are dated between 1510–1520 (1530). The paintings bear resemblance to those in Espoo Cathedral and the painters could have also been influenced by those who worked in Siuntio Church. Most of the medieval paintings were covered under whitewash again, after been reveled in the restoration in the 1894. The memento mori -themed motifs on the north wall are the only ones of their kind surviving in the area of Finland from the late medieval era.
