Oolitic limestone drill core
Description
This core was taken from Iford Manor, Wiltshire, UK. It is a sample taken from a medieval-aged, re-used, stone block that was used by Harold Peto to construct the Cloisters in the creation of his famous Grade 1 Listed Italian Gardens at Iford. This particular sample was chosen because it has a calcite-filled cavity exposed at the surface, and it was imaged by X-CT to see how the cavity behaved internally. The rock is Jurassic in age. The core was taken as part of remediation project of the Cloisters. Interesting Oolitic structures and porosity also visible in the 3D images. To get this dataset, please contact fairdata-pas@gtk.fi.
