National Forest Inventory 12

National Forest Inventory 12

Description

National Forest Inventory (NFI) is a forest monitoring system based on systematic sampling on all land. Nowadays, NFI is repeated in every 5 years. These data are from the 12th NFI cycle (2014-2018). 60% of the NFI12 field plot clusters are permanent, 40% are temporary. The data contain selected variables describing the forest stand where the NFI sample plot has fallen. In addition, the data include biomass (metric tons per hectare) and volume of growing stock (cubic meters per hectare) by species group measured at the plot location. If the plot are divided in two stand compartments, both stand compartment have an individual data record. In such a case, the plot biomasses or volumes are not corrected by the relative size of the partial plot. Plot coodinates are given at 1 kilometer accuracy to protect the permanent plots.
