General map, 1:400 000, 1863-1972
Description
National Surveing Board and later National Board of Surveying published General Map of Finland 1:400 000. Projection was Murdoch's first projection with Tobia Mayer adjustments. This was the first map series that covered whole Finland. The making of map was based on parish maps 1:20 000 which were reduced to 1:100 000 and some 1:200 000 maps. In Lapland new mapping was conducted. Map series contains 30 map sheets. Several new editions of the sheets were published. Cartouche (A1) has been published 1863, 1872, 1899/1900, 1910, 1915, 1920, 1936(7) and 1951. II edition was started to publish from 1954 in different map sheet division.
Each map is available in two versions:

* `With_marginalia`, these include the area of the paper map.
* `Without_marginalia`, these include only the actual map area.
The maps have been georeferenced using the corner points of the sheets and transformed into the current coordinate system based on the sheet index. Coordinate system of the files: ETRS89 / ETRS-TM35FIN (EPSG:3067)."
