Making Home Abroad 3D digitizations

Description

This 3D digitization package is created as a part of the research project “Making Home Abroad: Understanding Migrant Experiences and Heritage Implementation in Finland”. The aim of the project was, among other topics, to develop and implement critical, hands-on pedagogical resources from stored-away archaeological objects from the Ancient Near East in Finnish museum collections through 3D digitization and 3D printing. The project was led by Dr. Doc. Rick Bonnie and funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Circa 70 3D digitizations were made of Ancient Near Eastern and Roman objects from the collections of the Finnish Heritage Agency, The Finnish National Museum, the Raahe Museum and the Gallen-Kallela museum. The objects to be digitized were chosen by Dr. Sanna Saari, representing different find types from diverse cultural backgrounds, which support the pedagogical aims of the project. The 3D digitization process was accomplished by Annukka Debenjak-Ijäs, MA during 2020-2021. The licence of the 3D data varies. The CC license depends on the collection to which the digitized object belongs, and is marked in the object metadata of each 3D digitization.
