The research project focuses on women with criminal background, traumatic experiences, and development of women specific services.
The aim for this project has been to (1) study the connection of trauma experiences service needs of women with criminal backgrounds, (2) examine and analyze nowadays social work regarding substance use, health social work, social work with adults, and living social work and employment services from the service evaluation point of view, and (3) develop and pilot trauma experiences recognizing model of co-operation and services, which systematizes the preparation for women's release from prison and contribute to the success of integration into society.
The project has been carried out in three stages. The first phase has been to implement a wide survey and interviews on the trauma experiences of women with criminal backgrounds and their traumas' consequences. Empirical data consists of the survey (n=37) and interviews (=27) for female prisoners. The data has been analyzed with both quantitative and qualitative methods. At the second stage, data has been analyzed based on the results of service needs and system. We also have collected survey (Webropol) from the staff of welfare areas (n=24). The data has been collected from workshops during the development phase (observation, notes etc.). Developed model of co-operation and services has been piloted in third phase with two welfare areas.
