EmReg - Emotion regulation in secondary school pupils' learning

Description

This data set consists of video, electrodermal activity (EDA), and questionnaire data collected during a collaborative learning task. The participants were 6th grade primary school students (N=37) from Finland. The students collaborated in the groups of 3-4 students (N=12). This data was used to study primary school students' emotional states and emotion regulation as a part of self-regulated learning in a collaborative learning context. The groups were working in a classroom-like learning and research space (LeaForum: http://www.oulu.fi/leaf-eng/). During the data collection, the groups performed a collaborative science task: designing and constructing a model of an energy-efficient house powered by solar energy. Collaboration was recorded with MORE observation system including 360° cameras and multichannel audio recording. Students’ EDA were recorded with Empatica E4 wristbands. The collected data corpus includes 18 hours of video data of collaborative group work (N=12 groups), EDA data of collaborative group members (N=31), students' evaluations of their self-regulated learning skills with Self-Regulation Strategy Inventory—Self-Reports (SRSI-SR; N=37), students' classroom teachers evaluations of their students' self-regulated learning skills with Teacher Rating Scale (SRSI-TSR; N=37), students' evaluations of their situational emotional states prior and after collaboration (EmA tool; N=37), and students' evaluations of their groups' collaboration after collaboration (N=37). In addition, the data includes the documentation of the groups' houses, notes, and sketches made during the task (N=12). The data was collected in EmReg project funded by the Academy of Finland and carried out with the support of LeaF research infrastructure, University of Oulu.
