Diving beetle (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) diversity data along an urban gradient

Description

Cite this dataset: Liao, W. (2022). Diving beetle (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) diversity data along an urban gradient (Version 1). Wenfei Liao. https://doi.org/10.23729/4c63b38d-4aae-4500-adb8-46f37124c243 The data was used in the follow publication: Liao, W., Venn, S. & Niemelä, J (2020). Environmental determinants of diving beetle assemblages (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) in an urban landscape. Biodivers Conserv 29, 2343–2359. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10531-020-01977-9 The data was collected with 1-L activity traps (also known as bottle traps). Species richness and abundance are included. The extent of urbanisation was collected with a 500m buffer zone. The water depth at the trap level was collected at points 1m away from the shore, utilised as a way to estimate pond margin steepness in Liao et al (2020).
