Cognitive and motoric skills of pilots in simulated challenging landing scenarios
Description
The data has been follected from Finnair Flight Academy's Airbus A320 -flight simulator. In August 2020, the participants were eight expert pilots. In November 2020, the participants were eight novice pilots. The expert pilots acted as captains in the simulation, the novice pilots acted as co-pilots. The data includes both the captain and co-pilot's audio recordings as separate files, video recordings of the simulator (overview) and separate video recordings of captain and co-pilot's instrumentation. Eye-tracking data was also collected from the participants during the simulator training (by using (Ergoneers Dikablis Glasses 3). Moreover, heart rate and heart rate variability data was collected during 3-day period (by using Firstbeat Bodyguard 2 devices; the data collection started just before the simulator training). After the simulator training, the participants participanted in semi-structured individual interview where they reflected the challenging flight/landing scenarios and the role of technology in their training. Finally, the participants answered a short survey concerning their self-efficacy.
