Autoethnographic notes on futures workshop with farmers
Description
The material consists of autoethnographic notes regarding planning and organizing futures workshop for a small group of farmers. In the meeting, futures were imagined together with embodied and creative practices: the workshop included photo elicitation, walking together in farming landscape, and collective collage making. The autoethnographic notes address practicalities of the meeting, such as location and structure, as well as the researcher’s impressions and feelings about the interactions that emerged during the workshop. The object of the material is to enable an inquiry of the researcher's own role in facilitating reciprocal anticipation (that is, relational thinking and acting for futures). Participants in the workshop appear in the material under pseudonyms.
The material is part of a wider doctoral research on anticipation in climate-wise farming. The participants of the meeting were farmers from Southern Finland who had previously been interviewed for the study.
