IL-NIT model for the excitation of a nerve fibre

IL-NIT model for the excitation of a nerve fibre

Description

A simple implementation a myelinated axon model, consisting of the following: Model of the extracellular potential (spatial and temporal characteristics) Model of the axon geometry Model of the excitable cell membrane of rabbit (Chiu et al., 1979) with modifications by Sweeney ("CRRSS" model) as described in Basser and Roth (1991). This implementation is otherwise the same as that reported in Laakso et al. (2014) and Reilly et al. (2015) except that the explicit Euler method is used instead of RK4 and the code is written in plain MATLAB instead of a mex file. In Reilly et al. (2016), this model is called "IL-NIT". The default parameters given in this file correspond to the test case A.1. of Reilly et al. (2016): Axon stimulated using a point electrode on the surface of semi-infinite medium, with diameter D = 10 μm. The stimulation waveform is a monophasic square wave with 0.005 ms duration.
