Art, ecology and diverse human-nature relationship – towards a shared future: project dataset (2020-2022)
Description
The research project included the following sections: nature relationship survey, reception study of three films, reception study of a sound artwork, artistic-ecological workshop and eco-acoustic workshop. In addition, the project realized the sound artwork Jäänteitä (2020) and the installation Perspektiivä (2021). The material includes a research invitation, nature relationship survey questions (20 questions), film survey questions (15 questions), sound work survey questions (9 questions), film viewers' interview questions (4 questions) and artist interview questions (8 questions). In addition, the material contains photos taken by the participants, survey answers, and the literature of the workshop discussions and interviews (available until the end of May 2025). The study found out how by combining art research, artistic activity and biological and nature conservation science research, new ways of knowing can be produced and spark a discussion about the relationship with nature and the diversity of nature. In addition, it was found out how the methods developed in the project can be used as tools for reflecting on the relationship with nature. The material was produced during the years 2020-2021. The survey was open to everyone over the age of 18, and a total of 59 people, from pensioners to students, participated in its various sections.
