Digiroad is a national roads and streets database. It is designed to support different kind of transport systems and it is updated by municipalities (attribute data) and National Land Survey (geometry). Digiroad contains all streets and public, private and forest roads. Digiroad includes data about road names and numbers, road width and cover, number of lines, speed limits, bridges and tunnels, parking houses and areas, forbidden turns, addresses etc. Digiroad is currently available in R and K format. R format includes attribute info that is linked dynamically to the geometry and in practice therefore it is best to use ArcGIS software. K format has simpler data structure and therefore suits with MapInfo or other GIS software that does not support dynamic linking. The files are smaller in R format and there is less extra nodes.
