Nordea Art Foundation Finland’s scholarship for 2022

Nordea Art Foundation Finland announces the call for applications for the 20th anniversary year’s scholarship for doctoral dissertation research in the field of art history at Finnish universities and for the completion of doctoral studies and thesis at the University of the Arts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts. The amount of the scholarship is EUR 22,000.
When selecting the scholarship recipient, successful and determined progress in research work is taken into account as a criterion. When assessing applicants representing the visual arts, the interest of the research in relation to contemporary national and international aesthetic and political themes as well as the aspect of the activities that develop artistic research are taken into account. When assessing applicants representing art history, the scientific excellence and feasibility of the research plan as well as other activity in the field are taken into account.
Individuals with a maximum of two years left of their doctoral studies or work on their doctoral dissertation may apply for the scholarship. The supervisor’s statement on the stage of the work is obligatory, and the person providing the statement shall submit it directly to the foundation’s representative by e-mail. Peer review will be used in the assessment of the scholarship applications.
Application and attachments:
- cover letter with personal and contact information
- CV and a list of publications, including information on any funding granted during the past three years
- certificate of the master’s degree
- a work and research plan of up to four pages (including bibliography) and a summary thereof (max. 1,000 characters)
- the supervisor’s statement
The application and its attachments must be submitted by 1 May 2022 at 12 noon to the following address: anu.kehusmaa@consult.nordea.com. Applications submitted after the application period will not be accepted. The scholarship recipient will be announced on 17 June 2022.
The scholarship is intended as working compensation. All scholarship recipients living in Finland must arrange their pension insurance according to the Farmers' Pensions Act, which also covers grant or scholarship recipients. The names and personal details of scholarship recipients will be submitted to the Farmers' Social Insurance Institution (Mela) as required by law. Recipients must provide a written report to the foundation on the use of the scholarship within a year of its payment.
