Modelling inflammatory functions of astrocytes in multiple sclerosis (MoMS)
Description of the granted funding
Project focus on the development of MS disease in vitro cell culture model with the purpose to understand the role of astrocytes on the neuroinflammatory environment and their co-operation to microglia and neurons. This research will produce innovative information of mechanism of MS disease that enable development of preclinical in vitro cell culture model to study the effect of new neuroprotective therapeutic strategies and discovery of new biomarkers. The research will be conducted at the The Centre of Excellence in Body-on Chip research center, where expertise and technologies are available to complete this project successfully. Discovery of mechanism of MS disease enable to development of therapies and finding new biomarkers that would reduce patients disability worsening and improve the quality of life.
