MechanoToolKit: Molecular tools for cellular mechanobiology

Description of the granted funding

Mechanical signals are essential for our health, but very little is known about the molecular mechanisms behind mechanosensing. The proposed research project aims to develop better tools to detect the changes in protein function due to mechanical signals. We utilize engineered proteins to reveal mechanosignaling events in living cells and aim to reprogram cells to sense their environment in predetermined fashion. Better understanding of cellular mechanosensing would help us to understand diseases such as cancer metastasis.
