Super-sensitive ?/X- and NIR-radiation detectors via defect-free nanostructures: Next Imaging Revolution? (NIR)

Description of the granted funding

This project targets in developing extremely sensitive detectors for ?/X- and NIR-radiation. The goal is pursued with two different approaches: i) direct conversion by using nanostructured germanium, and ii) indirect conversion by utilizing nanostructured silicon together with scintillator materials. The sensors to be developed are expected to result in breakthroughs in e.g. medical imaging, night vision and nuclear safety.
