Efficient Biometrics based User’s Authentication Framework in Future Gadget-Free Hyperconnected Environments
Description of the granted funding
Concepts like ubiquitous and persuasive computing strengthen the vision of having digital services anywhere and everywhere. In addition to that, the recent advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) and communication technologies have changed the user’s perception over traditional way of acquiring services through gadgets (smartphones, tablets, laptops etc). The world is facing transition from gadget centric world to the smart and ambient spaces where users do not need to carry any means of gadgets in order to get the services. At one hand, these intelligent environments will provide user’s immense novel services, but on the other hand, it will also impose new kinds of security and privacy threats. The major challenge to acquire digital services in such gadget-free ambient environment is to have secure and efficient user’s authentication mechanism.
Therefore, this doctoral work will mainly address secure and efficient authentication mechanism for the user with ambient and gadget-free surrounding. Biometrics features will play vital role in the identification of particular users in future smart environments. This research work will propose privacy preserving and efficient user’s authentication framework in such gadget-free environment. The complete framework will also include third-party auditing mechanism that will ensure integrity of the data stored in information manager. The whole authentication mechanism will also be validated by formal security verification techniques such as Automated Validation of Internet Security-sensitive Protocols (AVISPA) or CDVT.
