Acronym

PREIN

Description of the granted funding

Light-based technologies, photonics, have an enormous number of applications essentially in all areas of modern life, including telecommunications, biomedicine, health care, energy and environment, manufacturing, and consumer products. The PREIN Flagship is a consortium between Tampere University of Technology, University of Eastern Finland, Aalto University, and VTT. Its overall objective is to bring together all the actors of the Finnish photonics ecosystem in an integrated network that covers the whole path from basic to applied research and to further development and commercialization of disruptive photonic technologies. This will remove the fragmentation of the photonics community and will facilitate the transfers of results from excellent science towards innovative products and other societal benefits.
