Development of visible light-sensitive photocatalytic thin-film using atomic layer deposition: application towards drinking water disinfection and emerging contaminants elimination

Description of the granted funding

Water disinfection is a crucial step for producing safe drinking water. This research project aims to develop a photocatalytic thin film using atomic layer deposition (ALD), fabrication of thin-film photocatalytic reactor and study its performance for water disinfection and emerging contaminants (e.g., antibiotics and personal care products) mineralization. ALD technology will allow developing high-quality photocatalytic thin film with high stability, ease of catalytic operation and easy scale-up for industrial application compared to the conventional powder catalysts.
