Novel solutions for overall efficiency improvement of photovoltaic power plants by optimal control, sizing and condition monitoring
Description of the granted funding
Global warming is one of the major crises and challenges. This research project advances curbing of global warming providing novel solutions to improve the overall efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) power production. The project will provide information and novel methods to optimise the control and operation of PV power plants. Moreover, novel methods for condition monitoring of PV modules and generators will be developed. The project will be carried out in the Electrical Engineering Unit at Tampere University in cooperation with University of California, San Diego and the University of Salerno. The main research methods of the project are analysis of high frequency measurement data and simulation of PV power plant operation by experimentally verified state-of-art simulation models. The developed methods and models will advance upcoming research in the field and promote scientific renewal. Moreover, the project will create knowledge needed in industrial life.
