Multimodal noninvasive assessment of peripheral circulation in chronic limb-threatening ischemia
Description of the granted funding
Chronic Limb Threatening Ischemia (CLTI) is a condition that may at its worst, lead to blood poisoning, necrosis, and finally amputation of the limb if untreated. In addition, CLTI may be a sign of polyvascular disease, which affects several parts of the arterial system and severely increases the risk of cardiovascular events. Our aim is to develop non-contact and non-invasive methods for assessing the vascular condition and diagnosing CLTI as well as for the real-time monitoring of the treatment and post-treatment surveillance. The developed methods are based combining complementary information obtained with multiple sensing modalities.
