Centre of Excellence in the History of Experiences

Acronym

HEX

Description of the granted funding

HEX studies the history of society and its change as lived reality by focusing on experiences at individual and societal levels. It presents a new approach, history of experiences, as a paradigm to explore how people's experiences are formed, how they are interpreted and shared and how they influence individuals' relationships with their community and to society at large. The CoE's research focuses on the role of experiences by studying three major social constructions: lived religion, lived nation and lived welfare state. The prefix ‘lived' refers to how societal reality is always reflected and made through experiences. HEX will consolidate the history of experience as a ground-breaking theory and field of study in the international setting.
